CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. — A man is in jail after he impersonated a police officer and made a traffic stop using a blue light he attached to his car’s visor, the spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said.

A witness saw the “suspicious traffic stop” Thursday night at Ga. 92 and Bells Ferry Road, followed the man to the Waldan Pond Apartments and called authorities, Cherokee sheriff’s Lt. Jay Baker said.
Deputies found the man about 7 p.m. at the apartment complex, the sheriff’s office said.
Brian Weikel, 37, of Acworth, admitted he made the traffic stop in his gray Ford Focus and “explained he pulled the car over because the driver was driving in an aggressive manner,” Baker said.

Weikel is not a certified peace officer and holds no type of authority in the state of Georgia, according to the sheriff’s office.
He was arrested on a charge of impersonating a police officer. The blue strobe light was found in the Focus and taken into evidence.
Weikel is being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center in lieu of $11,200 bond.
Detectives want anyone who recognizes Weikel and saw him pulling over cars to call them at 770-928-0239.
